How to Map account names and security ID

I keep getting an error message "No mapping between the account names and
security ID was done 0x80070534" when trying to run Back up Configuration to
NAS on my home network. Prior to receiving the error I am asked for user
name and password to access the NAS which doesn't require a users name or
password. There are literally hundreds of kb articles related to the same
error (not the error number) but, none of the articles are related Vista or
my specific problem. I am running Vista Business on Dell Inspiron
(connected to sbs2000 domain at work).

any and all ideas are appreciated.

Thanks,

It probably means that the user name is not valid ie that there is no
account for that user name.

Check with the NAS mftr. for updated firmware. Most NAS devices run a
variety of Linux and they need to have the latest version of Samba. Here
is the standard method of getting *nix devices to work with Vista:

Recommended solution: upgrade to Samba 3.x and enable NTLMv2 by adding
"client ntlmv2 auth = yes" to your smb.conf file. Because of another
issues with previous versions, I strongly recommend upgrading to 3.0.22
or later regardless of your choice for this particular instance.

Alternate solution: change Vista's security settings to permit
lower-security authentications. (as below)

To enable Windows Vista to connect to Mac OS X with Windows File Sharing
enabled, you will need to change the following policy in Windows Vista:

Start>Run>secpol.msc [enter]

Click on "Local Policies" --> "Security Options"

Navigate to the policy "Network Security: LAN Manager authentication
level" and double-click it to get its Properties. By default Windows
Vista sets the policy to "NTVLM2 responses only". Use the drop-down
arrow to change this to "LM and NTLM – use NTLMV2 session security if
negotiated".

Please note that I don't know how this will affect your computer's
domain security so you might want to also check with your office sysadmin.
