Tip o' The Day

Instead of typing www.yoursite.com and hitting enter, try
this;

In the address bar type only the name of the site, now
press control key and Enter, the WWW and the .Com is
filled in for you.

One drawback this does not work with Org sites, only dot
nets and dot coms.

By the act of scrolling this post on your computer, and/or printing or
replying to this post, you agree that I am your everlasting Lord &
Saviour. Breach of this term will result in you burning in hell for
ever and ever! Amen!"

It only works with .com

I'll make it even easier for you.

It is VERY rare that you need to have the www in there at all anymore. Most
web sites are registered with and without the www. Occasionally you will
hit a site that needs it in there (.gov sites seem to be the ones I've
found).

As for not typing the domain (.com, .net, .org, .edu, .mil, .gov, .cc, .us,
etc.), you are better off putting that in yourself. Even if IE correctly
puts the domain in for you, it does so by looking to see "if" there is a
site with a domain that it is attempting. So if you just typed (for
example) "whitehouse", you would be taken to "whitehouse.com" not the
correct "whitehouse.gov" and trust me "whitehouse.com" is NOT a site you
want to bring up when there may be children present.

Even if the correct site is brought up, you have to wait for IE to locate
the domain.

It's actually faster if you just type the site and domain yourself.

Using Ctrl + Enter, doesn't search anything as far as I can tell. Just
puts the "http://www." in front, and the ".com" in back of what's typed
in the address bar.

I use it all the time before going to Google to find a site.
