How to make an embedded wav file auto play when slide comes up

I have not worked much with embedded audio, but have a need to do it. I
embedded a wav file in a slide and it works fine when I click on it, but I
would like it to start playing when I go to that slide and stop when I click
the mouse. Simular to the way a normal audio animation works (not embedded).
As long as I'm wishing, I do not want the audio player control screen to pop
up.

Is this possilbe?

Thanks very much for help!

Harvey

Click Insert > Movies and Sounds > Sound from file. When prompted, select to
p"lay automatically" during slideshow, or to play only when you click on the
sound icon.

If you are using wav, you can insert the sound under slide transition(Slide
Show > Slide Transition). Wav files can be embedded (this eliminates links
breaking). You can also convert music into wav format by using sound editor
like this one: http://audacity.sourceforge.net.

Also see these links:
"Sounds/Movies don't play, images disappear or links break when I move or
email a presentation"

And:

Sandy, the way you described is for a linked sound file (I think) so the file
will have to be on the system the PPT is played from. What I need is to embed
the sound file in the PPT so it travels with the show file. From what I
understand the way to do this is by inserting an "object". That works, but I
don't seem to have much control over it that way. To start the sound, I have
to click on it. That opens a small media player on screen (even in show
mode). Not exactly what I want to see on screen during a show.

Thanks,
Harvey

OK - first you need a wav file (the only file that can be embedded). Then
follow these instructions from PPTools (rdpslides):

"Quick Fix for WAV Sounds
Choose Tools, Options and go to the General tab
Set the value next to "Link sounds with file size greater than" to 50000 kb
Click OK
If you've already added sounds to your presentation, you'll need to locate
and delete them then re-insert them (use Insert, Movies and Sounds, Sound
from File...)
The sounds you re-insert this way and any sounds (with file sizes less than
50000kb or about 50mb) will be embedded into your PPT file, not linked. Your
PPT file will be larger this way, but the sounds won't get lost. "

If you need software to convert the sound file to a wav: try
http://audacity.sourceforge.net/ -- it's free.

Wav files are larger so will make your file larger. For a smaller size
convert MPs to RIFF wav by using the convert found at
http://sourceforge.net/projects/cdexos/

Sandy,

The wav file I'm using is small (1,556KB) so it is embedding (by inserting
object), but once embedded, I have to click on the icon in show mode for the
clip to play. Then it brings up the mini audio control panel to stop or
restart it. I just want it to start playing when the slide displays, and then
be able to stop it with a mouse click or some other command.

Or, are you saying using the insert sound command it also should embed
rather than link?

Thanks
Harvey

Sandy,

Thanks for the help. When I looked for on line help it said I needed to use
the Insert Object so that is why I went that route.

Thanks again,
Harvey
