How to make a W2K AS as the PDC of a Windows NT40 domain ??

Hi all, I've got a problem .....

I have a MS Windows NT40 domain, containing around 20 BDC's.

I want to replace the PDC with a new MS Windows 2000 Advanced Server
(currently not running AD), is that possible at all ??

I would be rather sorry to install the new PDC with MS Windows NT40,
as this OS is about to be phased out ....

You can remove Win 2k from the new server and install NT 4.0 on it as a BDC
while connected to your existing network, promote to PDC then upgrade to Win
2k and AD.

In order for the new Win 2k server to have the same SAM as the NT 4.0 domain
you MUST upgrade the PDC first.
