How to make a hidden folder not hidden

All of a sudden all of my folders on a USB drive have become Hidden folders.
I can show these hidden folders through the View tab in the Folder option in
Control, Panels, BUT, the ticked box 'Hidden', under the folder Properties,
is grayed out and I can't turn the Hidden tick off!! How can I do this --
that is make a hidden folder not hidden as the show hidden folders is not
really satisfactory when moving to different computers. I have run Symantec
virus cleanup and it did picked up a whole lot of stuff that has now been
cleaned.

Thanks for this. So I have to reformat the USB drive, as it seems to be the

Your system is still infested. If I were you, I'd reinstall Windows from
scratch and I would repartition and reformat the external drive as well.
