Hello,

Everytime I reboot my PC my desktops icons end up realigning themselves. I
want to be able to lock them in position permanently so they don't move
after a reboot. Any ideas?

thanks,
Aaron

One option is to use this little utility from Kelly's site:
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm
Line 188: Add Save & Restore Desktop Layout to Menu

Running this edit will add two entries to the right click menu which
displays when right clicking a blank area of the desktop. One saves the
current layout and the other restores it.

See the top of the page for info on running the edit.

Hi Aaron

Have you got Arrange Icons By > Align to Grid checked? That should keep
them where you put them through ordinary use and reboots.

However, some changes, such as altering screen resolution or the size of
icons, can disrupt your layout, and then I find Kelly's utility, as
recommended to you by Rock in his reply, invaluable.

Hope this helps.

I have done what I could here, and it doesn't seem to install. I read the
'top of the page', but being new to 'regedit'...why can't insturctions be
exact, detailed, specific and assume we don't really already know what we're
doing. I'd really like to get my icons to stay put, and I'm so frustrated
that I can't fix this.
