How to lock down Windows

D

David Sherman

(1) Make sure under Tools, Internet options, the 2 items for Enable
install are un clicked; (2) Empty Temporary Files must really work;
(3) Disk cleanup must be rewritten to work. The user that I log in as
has 3 possible locations for the temp directory. By the design of Disk
cleanup, only one location will be cleanup and even if it works, files
since last reboot/logoff won't be deleted; (4) IE must stop any and
all redirection. I am by nature a bad typist and bad speller. If I mis
spell a name or URL, I have no idea where IE will take me. This has to
change.!!

Is that really necessary? Why don't you post your non-
helpful replies somewhere else. The purpose of these
newsgroups is made very clear, and is not Microsoft
bashing.

Why don't YOU PERSONALLY build a better piece of anti-
spyware, give it away for free in an effort to make
computing more secure and then start your own (free)
newsgroups.

That works really well in that it doesn't allow anyone
where I work to get any work done now so there are no
more problems!
