Can anybody tell me how to kill Windows Messenger? It always starts up and
tries to connect to the internet. I have removed it from Windows setup in
the control panel under software, I have removed the directory, but still it
resurrects from the dead. Every time the directory is there again, and I
cannot make it not to start. I have unchecked "Messenger" inWindows Services
and still it is launched at start up.

To completely remove Windows Messenger, type the following on the Start, Run
line:

RunDll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection %windir%\inf\msmsgs.inf,BLC.Remove

Then hit Enter.

Good Luck,
Jerry

From the control panel...go to administrative
tools...then to services...scroll down to messenger and
double click. there is an option there to stop the
service. I did this and worked great!
