PC does not have CD-ROM; Bot partition almost full, so I removed the hard dive from the computer and installed in another, then I installed Windwos 2000 on the hard drive, including 18 updates. When I put the drive back in the traget machine, it would not boot. What should I do?

You need to be a lot more specific - your report that "The machine would not
boot" tells us far too little about what's going on.

Furthermore: You cannot install Win2000 on one machine, then port the disk
to another, unless the two machines are virtually identical.

Can I install Windows 2000 by connecting through the network interface adapter?

check your bios, and see if boot is set correct. then
check your bootmenu.
