How to install new hard drive XP

Inspiron 5100 Lap Top

Have the new hard drive and Operating System CD

Anyone know the step-by-step process for changing the drives?

I've already backed up my C drive using Retrospect Express.

Uh....., you have a Dell Laptop and it sounds like you need guidance from
Dell. Have you checked out there website for "how to's"? If it is a
replacement hd, didn't you get installation instructions? You user manual
would have them too.or you can download a manual from their site......

Turn power off.
Remove old hard drive.
Install new hard drive.
Turn power on.
Insert 'Operating System CD'.
Follow instructions for restoring the O/S.
Restore files from Retrospect Express backup.
Yur good to go.
