HOW TO INSTALL FRONTPAGE 2003 WITHOUT OFFICE

The full version would never require you to have a prior version.

I would guess from the title of the post that it is asking him to put in the
Office CD. Are there any special features in FP 2003, like language
features, that require files from the Office CD?

It would help if he were more explicit.

What $200 upgrade are you talking about
- the cost of upgrading to Windows XP?
(required for any MS OFFICE 2003 product)
- the cost of a FP 2003 Upgrade
(which requires prior ownership of a full version of FP)
- the cost of a full version of FP 2003?

| thank you for the constructive critisism! let me explain to those who've
| spent way too much time b/w the "chair and the keyboard". i upgraded this
| computer among others from win98 to winxp. some glitches but over all good
| takes of winxp. frontpage has given some back kicks, over all a good program.
| i have worked with linux, lindows, servers, c++, html, and very aware of
| microsoft glitches in windows, frontpage, exel, publisher, ect. i donot
| believe i spent almost $200 on an upgrade for frontpage 2003. i have done
| this before to other computers with the same software and had success.
| perhaps the product key number is the wrong one for the cd?

Yeah Yeah Yeah......all I know is that Front Page 2003 wont run on Windows
ME, Windows 98, or Windows 95. Also, I cant use the IIS Server to run ASP
unless I now buy Access and my Adaptec CD Program wont run on XP.....What
kind of compatibility is that?

?

=?Windows-1252?Q?Rob_Giordano_\=28Crash_Gordon=AE\

UH...and FP97 won't run on DOS 3.0 either - man I'm pissed at that !!

FrontPage 2003 not running on Win9x-based OSes is not a backwards
compatibility issue. Architecture of the OS changes over time.

You can't run ASP on IIS unless you buy Access!? I'm not sure why you think
that, but that statement just doesn't make any sense.

Your Adaptec program not running on Windows XP... how in the world do you
equate that with Microsoft's problem?

As usual, another Microsoft basher with no credibility and not much
knowledge of technology.

Backwards compatibility is the ability to work with files created in prior versions, and have
absolutely nothing to do with a application's OS and hardware requirements.

Why do you think that you need Access to run IIS?

You however need Windows 2000 / Windows XP professional or server to run IIS.

As for your Adaptec CD application, you need to take that up with Adaptec, as it is not a MS issue.

You do not need MS Office to Run Frontpage, and never have needed it.
Frontpage is a "standalone" application and must be purchased separately -
it is NOT included in MS Office 2003.

However you do need Microsoft Windows 2000 or XP (but this is your operating
system which you would already have).

Which I also find very hard to believe, since the upgrade last time I
checked was around $80.
