Inserting an image into a mail only works if one uses the Rich-Text
(HTML) format (which is not the best way of doing mail, IMHO). Normally
an attachment should do.
But it's easy enough:
- in the mail editor place the cursor at the position where you want to
have the picture;
- from the Menu select "Insert | Picture" and then navigate to the place
where the image file is stored.
Once the image is inserted, right-click on the image and "play" with the
properties.
Create Mail > click on the empty compose area >Menu bar, click Insert ( you
can see now all options inside are active ) > click Picture... , make your
selection and click Open.

How stupid I feel. I am so used to using Cut and Paste, I didn't even see
"Insert" on the toolbar. That was the way to place a picture. Hopefully this
help someone else.
Thanks for all your help
