how to hide something

I wish to email a reply to an employer accepting an offer of a position. I
noticed on the offer that the person who sent it to me had their actual
signature in the document, only it was hidden until I printed it out. I have
scanned my signature and saved it as a jpeg. I wish to use it in the document
in the same manner. That is, hidden, unable to be viewed until the document
is printed so that nobody can just copy and paste my signature anywhere they
want. How do i do this?

Hi Mike,

One way would be to insert your signature image in a field coded as:
{IF{PRINTDATE \@ yyyyMMddHHmm}= {DATE \@ yyyyMMddHHmm} "Your signature goes here."}
Note: the field braces (ie '{ }') are created in pairs via Ctrl-F9 - you can't simply type them.

If you open the document you received and press Alt-F9 to toggle the field code display, you may see such a field in there.
Alternatively, the signature could be in an embedded eps graphic that doesn't have a preview mode. This is controlled by the
software used to generate the eps graphic and is not something Word can change.

Cheers
