I posted this once and Gordon gave me some insight but it wasn't what
I needed. I just made a new "Limited" user account and there's alot I
don't want him to access. I logon or switch users to his account and
I have the desktop cleaned off. Pressing the start button and then
the all programs button, he get's the same files I see as admin and
can he can access them. I need to correct this, any help.

You need to turn off simple file sharing, then you can deny or allow access
to program using the programs security tab, under it properties. Depending
on if you have xp pro or home it different to turn it off.
Also right click your start button, explore all users, move any shortcuts
you don't want all users seeing into your own start menu here: C:\Documents
and Settings\your user name here\Start Menu
Anything in the all users start folder, all users can see. Move them to your
so they can't see them.

hi Bob

a limited user access prevents the user from copying and
or installing programs that writes directly to the c-
drive and changes in the registry. but the programs that
are installed by an admin account are accessible but the
limited user. try downloading powertoys for windows XP
from the microsoft site, this might help you hide few
icons and programs BUT if the limited user know his way
arround windows, he will eventually find them. also
another way to deny him access to certain folders is to
implement NTFS restrictions. this is dangerous if you do
not know much about it because you can block yourself.

In explorer: tools, folder options, view tab, uncheck: use simple file
sharing.
Now when you right click on a program/file, and choose properties, you will
see a security tab. On this tab you can deny or allow access to users.

Windows Explorer/Tools/Folder Options/View/Scroll to the
bottom.

If you're referring to the shared documents folder, I have a .reg file attached
that will turn that off. Assuming that's what you're getting at....
