how to have checkboxes and type text while form protected

I am trying to create a document where the user can check boxes and type text
simultaneously in seperate spaces provided. When the document is protected
you can easily check or uncheck boxes but not add text. When it is
unprotected you can type text but then when you click on the boxes a 'check
box window form field options' window pops up. How can I avoid this window
from popping up when a user is filling out the form?

Either:

Provide text form fields where you want users to type, and protect
the whole document.

or:

Put a section break (usually a continuous break) between the area that
contains the check boxes and the area where the users should type.
Then in the Tools > Protect Document dialog, after selecting the Forms
option button, click the Sections button and uncheck the section that
should not be protected. You can have more than just one section break
if you need to alternate protected and unprotected sections.

Use text formfields. They are on the Forms toolbar. What you are talking
about is what Word calls an "online form." Check this in help. For more
about online forms, follow the links at

Chapman's series of articles. You may also want to look at

Hope this helps,
