I keep deleting "My Pictures" and "My Music" from "My Documents". Then they
reappear. How can I get rid of them permanently?

You can't. they are hard coded into Windows as required folders.

when you upgrade to Windows Vista, you will not have to worry about 'My
Music' or My 'anything'.. they are dropping the 'My' part..
