How to get Outlook files from old hard drive?

Laura Ruiz

Hi there,
I just recently got a new computer and am trying to
retrieve all my outlook files. I've been using Outlook on
the new system for a couple of weeks now and don't want to
lose that data as well. I did *not* create a .pst
(backup) of the old data. Is there any way to retrieve my
inbox and contacts still or will I need to reconfigure my
old computer and do the export (a big pain)?

Thanks in advance.

Sincerely,
Laura Ruiz

if you didn't create a PST backup, does that mean that you're using exchange
server with outlook ?

I was under the impression that unless you're using exchange server, you are
using a PST whether you backup or not.

Simply copy the *.pst file to the new computer and import it (file: import
and export) and all messages contacts & otherwise will be copied. the actual
mail accounts will have to be re imput or exported as well.

Reusing the PST is far more reliable and retains more settings than an
import. Import is a last resort.
