It is a shame that AMD have not quite yet perfected the art of "shutting down" the CPU if it gets too hot. Intel has that one sussed. Their P4 WILL continue to work WITHOUT a HSF, shame about the price.
The Thoroughbred will not throttle or shut itself down if it gets too hot. Unlike the P4 which has integrated circuits to do so, the mobo has to do it on Athlons, so it's an Asus problem.
