how to format failed dynamic disk ?

Hi,

I have a 200mb dynamic disk on a windows 2000 machine that failed when
ghosting a mirrored drive from here and anther drive. The problem is that i
cant seem to do anything with this disk now.

I tried:

- in windows 2000, my computer windows cannot see drive
- in windows 2000 server, the disk managmeent reports that it cant see the
drive
- i plugged the disk into an xp client and used partition magic 8. this show
the disk as "dynamic disk"
- i cannot format the drive or delete the partition.
- i booted to win98 floppy, used partition magic 4 and it reported the disk
as BAD. again i could do nothing to it.

Any idea how i can wipe this disk and start again ?

Thanks
Scott

Hi,

Thanks for the reply.

Its NTFS, win 98 cant see it (unless you know a way) hence I use partition
magic 4.0 from a command promt. I can see the disk from here but reports a
huge portion as bad. I think i need some really low level format tool. I can
actually create a new partion on it on a small section. Some boot record
must be totally shafted.

Any ideas ?

Scott.

Sorry forgot about 98/ntfs
Must confess I had problems with PM boot disks and a drive that had been
part of an array.
If I remember I believe I booted from a Win2k cd and Formated from there
