how to force running screen saver immediately?

hello:

is it possible to force the screen saver immediately??

thanks

M.

Look in any big software site under "desktop utilities" There
are thousands of them and many include a screen saver control
which includes a key shortcut or a tray button or a screen
corner to start it instantly. Many include stuff which you may
consider useless, to it's worth trying a few. My favorite of 10+
years, which, strangely enough, works in XP as well, is
ssswitch. It is so old all I can find now are crack sites - some
probably supply the whole program because it's very small. BTW,
most of those sites do NOT put malware in their programs/cracks,
it's a myth. Besides, scanning EVERYTHING you DL is a basic. If
you want, I can upload it to a file share site for you. Let me
know.

Instantly activate a screen saver:

I guess I'm getting pretty naive... I actually expected
something effective and really useful, not just idiot
instructions for making a desktop shortcut to ONE screensaver
with NO options or other features. Not to mention switching to
the desktop (you'd be surprised how many people don't know about
Win-M - then again, maybe you wouldn't...), finding the shortcut
icon, and double-clicking on it at the exact moment the door
opens and your boss/wife walks into your office/garage while
your're surfing for hard porn is not necessarily an easy thing
to do "immediately".

Hell, one of the earliest screensavers ever, intermission (later
after dark) allowed for screen corners to be set at will to
start and stop the savers /instantly/.

Microsoft, always ahead of their time!

(BTW, any news on just /when/ it will be possible to print a
directory's (EXCUSE ME, /folder's/) contents from within Windows
using NO other software and NO command line stuff?)

Thanks for reply!!
In fact, they said to create a shortcut in the Desktop for the concerned
screen saver, but in the same time, I have text files for another software
that have the .scr extension, so I changed the file properties to open my
text editor when clicking on those files. so what's the executable file
(*.exe) that launchs a screen saver, so I can create a batch file that
launch it with appropriate file (*.scr)

thanks

I like this one: http://www.brianapps.net/saverstarter/

I was running it when I was have a screen saver problem with XP. Don't know
what was causing it, and have no idea of what fixed it, but after only
working sporadically for about 6 months, it has work as it's supposed to for
the last 2 or 3 months. (I'm sure I just jinxed it- it'll probably not work
again now.)

If you hadn't changed the application association to a text editor, you
could have simply placed the *.scr file in your Startup folder.
