How to force MSO to save sent mails in "account/Sent Items" folder?

Hi to all,

i'm using Ourlook 2003 on WinXP and i have few acc. on it (all POP3), let's
call it ACC1(default one), ACC2 and ACC3.

I would like to save all mail that i've sent trough ACC1 in "ACC1/Personal
Folder/Sent Items", all sent trough ACC2 in "ACC2/Personal Folder/Sent Items"
etc... I know that i can create new rule to save a copy in "****/Sent items"
folder but it is only a copy, and if i use some other rules it happens to mix
all msgs...

This is option that other email clients have (such as Thunderbird, TheBat1,
Eudora)... I beleive that this can be solved but i don't know how to do it:-(

and i hope that MS will enable it in future versions of MS Office;-), this is
not big coding problem in develop period:)

Thanks in advance,

Zdenko A.

create a rule to save the messages in the folders and disable the option to
save all mail to the sent folder.

Hello,

the second i've submit my msg, i've realized how to do it:) any way, it
should be ba default in Outlook, but i'll let that to developers;-)

I've got one more, can i save "Customize view" in Inbox folder? I have about
20 folders with msgs in my outlook, and i would like to see from, to, created,
received, subject (and few others:)) fields and i don't like an idea to
manually do it for each folder...can i save it or export or copy/paste or
smth?

thanks in advance,

Since there are no default rules defined in Outlook, why would the default
be NOT to save the message in the Sent Items folder? Otherwise, every
Outlook user except you would be bitching about their sent e-mails not being
saved or going into the wrong folder. Defaults are, well, defaults.

Nope. Each folder has its own view. You can define a view and then select
it for each folder rather than customize each folder's own view.

true.. but, isn't it logical to save all mails sent trought ACC1 in sent
items under ACC1 acount?
i think it would be good to see all mails for each acc at the same place
(under same PST file)

can you explain it how to do it?

Thanks,

you need to edit the global view.

In Outlook, all POP3 and Exchange accounts have their e-mails aggregated
under the default message store (the one marked for delivery). Each
HTTPmail account, like for Hotmail, gets its own message store which means
you get a separate set of folders for that separate message store. Each
IMAP account gets its own message store so, again, it gets its own set of
folders.

If you want to segregate POP3/Exchange e-mails based on account, use a rule
that test on which account through which the mail item was retrieved. You
can also use a rule for sent mails based on which account through which it
was sent. Rules rule.

In OL2002, View -> Current View -> Define Views and create a new view using
any name you want with any conditions that are available. You'll then see
that custom view listed under View -> Current View. When you select a
folder where you want that view, go to View -> Current View and select your
custom view, then do the same for the next folder where you want to use that
same view. Navigation through the menus may be slightly different for
OL2003.
