My pc crashed and I could not get on the internet to find help. I do not know
much about computers so I reinstalled windows. Doing this deleted all my
sentimental pics. I still have them on my PC on a damaged partition that I
cannot access. I was trying to delete the whole 2nd partition but I only
could delete some files so I did that. If I can figure out how to repair that
partition I can find all my pics that are still on it. I tried to repair that
partition but windows does not show it when I choose which partition to
repair. Everything is still on that partition except some system files and I
cannot get into it since they are gone. Any advice for a total newbie? Please
Help
Thanks, Stephanie

Stephanie - stop accessing that partition RIGHT NOW!

The more you do to it, the less your chances of getting out anything usable.
You will need a "file recovery" program installed on your main partition (I
"hope" the photo's are on another partition). Then you can use the recovery
program to scan the damaged partition. You will get a readout of the files
and directories on that partition, along with the present condition. You can
then save them to the good partition.

I have had extremely good results with EasyRecovery Professional from
www.ontrack.com. It IS expensive, but it just works! If anything is there,
this program will allow you to save it.

Good luck!

Thanks, I know I can recover them with a file recovery software but cannot
afford it. I tried one to see what it would recover and it did show previews
of my lost pics, so I know they are there. I just thought if software can do
it there has got to be a way to get to them yourself.
I found the file the pics are in while searching and copied it to my
documents but I cannot open any of them up, all the old names of the files
are still there. It says I dont have authorized access or permission to view
or something like that. How can I restore the pics?
If I cant figure it out then I will get recovery software
Thanks for your help and advice

Ricky, it worked!!!! Everything has been restored! I knew there had to be a
way besides paying for data recovery. Thats all I needed to do, Thanks a ton,
your a genius!!!!!!

Glad you got the photo's. When you said the drive was corrupted I thought
that you couldn't even see the files. Things CAN be simple sometimes! (-:
