How to find Videocard info!!

I feel really silly asking this but I just cannot find
what I'm looking for! I could do it on my old W95 but I'm
still learning with this new PC with XP Home.

I installed the demo of Rise of Nations but I get the
error that my Video card needs updated drivers to run the
game. I've found all the info on the Rise of Nations site
re this but I have no idea who is the manufacturer of my
Video Card.

I've gone into My Computer - View System Info - Hardware -
Device Manager - Sound, Video,Game controllers and the
only video one says Video Codecs. How do I find the Video
Card info and manufacturer?

I have a HP Pavillion 713a. On the PC it says Intel
Extreme Graphics Integrated 3D graphics with up to 64MB
of dynamic video memory. I ran Windows Update and it said
none of my drivers need updating. I'm really confused!
Thanks so much for any help - you will put a smile on a
sulky 9yo's face if I can get this demo running!!!

You're in the right place in Device Manager, but need to click the + next to
Display Adapters. When it expands, right-click the listing (which will
probably the name of the card) and select Properties. You can then look on
the Driver tab. Once you determine which manufacturer it is, you can locate
the official web site by going to www.google.com and typing in the name
(Nvidia, ATI, etc.).

Thank you both so much for this info. I found out it's an
Intel so finding their website was easy. I've found the
latest driver (downloading it now) and although I bought
this PC new in February 2003, the current driver
installed is dated 22 May 2002!! Hopefully this will make
a difference and my son can play his demo! Thanks again!!

Good for you! If you've got an "Intel" it sounds like you've got on-board
graphics, that is not a real graphics card, where you're sharing memory
between the computer's RAM (Random Access Memory) which handles programs,
and the displaying of what you see on the screen. Be cautious before you
purchase any games, looking at the required specs to actually run the games
successfully.

Thanks so much for all the info. After installing the
updated driver the Rise Of Nations demo worked so my son
happily played it alot today - had to kick him off to
give his sister a turn and then so I could come online!

The weird thing is that also on the CD that had that demo
on it (the CD that comes with Aussie mag PC User) it had
a full version of Monopoly 1.0. When I tried to run it
all I got was a screen full of horizontal coloured lines.
After having to use Ctrl-alt-del to shut it down my
screen was at 480 x 640 low res (I usually have it at 764
x 1028 32 bit). I restarted the PC and it told me it had
recovered itself from a severe-something (I can't
remember the exact wording but you'll know what I mean).
I hadn't tried to run this Monopoly before updating the
driver but it still could have happened. It states in the
mag that it's compatible with XP but I'm not game to try
running it again!!

Thanks again for all the assistance!!
