How to embed mp3 file to a Windows Vista Email

L

Lee Kerry

Hi

Has anyone figured out when and how we can embed some mp3 music to emails we
send.
It is one of the functions I always loved in OE, but since Vista arrived
with Windows Mail it has gone.

It used to be simply a matter of Format/Background/Sound and indeed you can
still do this in Vista Mail, but it will not allow itself to be sent.
Indeed you get shown a rather ambiguous error message which states,

" One or more of the pictures in this message could not be found. When you
send this message these pictures will not be included. Are you sure you want
to send this message?
And you have a YES?NO option.

Can anyone tell me if its a known fault that will be addressed by MS. !!! ?
or possibly whether there is any add-on or indeed software that could
assist.

TIA

That error message usually means that whatever you are trying to attach is
still open in some other program, in which case Windows Mail will have
trouble attaching it. Try closing the other programs before you try to
attach
it.

Microsoft has apparantly stopped issuing updates for Windows Mail,
and shifted most of their email effort towards their newer email program,
Windows Live Mail.

If you want to ask if Windows Live Mail has the capability you want,
you're likely to get a better answer in newsgroup:

Format | Background | Sound did NOT let you use MP3 as a file extension in
OE. You have the exact same choices in WinMail as in OE. In OE there were
ways one could embed an MP3 using the active movie control and involving
scripting.

i get that same message sometimes but when i go into my sent mail messages it is working also if you have a friend to send it to they can tell you if they are hearing the music but what i found out on my spam blocker was that you had to click on boxes allowing these types of files to come in and go out-also if the person you are sending the file to has these type of attachemnts blocked they will not hear or see them anyways. The best way to send music and images is to get a free website at yahoo geocities or even a blog and there you can make a little webpage which is simple to do with blank editor or yahoo pagebuilder and upload images and music and video files and then just make a little page and send the link to them or embed the entire page into your email this way you can also embed a download code into the video or mp3 player so the person can download the music and video files..html codes are easy to find by doing a google search like ... html codes video player
code and just copy paste them into your page..tons of free sites and blogs and is fun to do too

is easy <body bgcolor="put color here" text="color"> <img src=""></a> these
codes are simple to find on the net

There is a way!

You will have to convert your MP3/AAC etc to a WAV to do this though!

Record you little bit of music (MP3/AAC/WAV etc) using Vista’s built in
Sound Recorder, either from a record deck/tape deck/ipod/mp3 player, etc.

Since Windows Vista will only let you save this file as a WMA file you will
have to convert it to a WAV. To do this right click on the Saved Recorded
(WMA) File and click ‘Convert Sound File’, follow the instructions or use
your own WMA to WAV Converting Software!

Once you have this little WAV. Open up Outlook Express (Vista), on your
Email click the ‘Format’ then ‘Background’ then ‘Sound’. From the popup click
browse for file. Open your ‘Recorded/Converted’ WAV File.

Note Little WAVs only but tick the ‘Continuous’ tab when embedding to repeat
it.

My favourite is Louis Armstrong’s ‘Wonderful World’ verse for the romantic
interest or Steppenwolfs ‘Born to be Wild’ for the guys! (Maybe not your
choice though!).

P.S. You can edit (Cut) (Fade in/out, etc) your Vista recorded WMA file with
Windows Movie Maker, but remember to convert it to a WAV before sending it
using this method and keep the file size smallish.

You all know all this though!

P.S. Since WAV files are a lot larger than their equivalent WMA/MP3/AACs, so
check its size before sending with your Email using this method.

There is another way to embed an mp3 file or wma file in an email without
having to convert it to another format. It can be done with this freeware
program:
