How to embed fonts/moving to another computer

sorry if this has been asked, couldn't find the answer. I have many fonts on
my home PC, most are true type. So I create a document with a special font,
under tools, options, and save, I say "embed". However, when I take the doc
somewhere else via my jump drive, the fonts on screen are not what I saved.
Short of copying the fonts and installing them on the other computer, is
there a way to keep what I started with so I can go use print it at a
different computer?

You need that font on both systems. Not all fonts can be embedded.

Oh, one other question. If I save it from Word to Adobe PDF, will you be
able to see the special fonts without having it on your system? My main
concern is I do work for someone out of state and need him to see my work but
when he gets it, the special fonts are gone.

If the font can't be embedded, then it won't be in the .pdf either. You
would have to send the fonts to him to install on his system and that could
violate the license on the font.
