Apart from Word and Excel worksheets, you can embed any file into the Word doc.
Procedure as follow:

- Click Insert, then object;
- Go to the Create from File tab;
- Click to Browse button to select the file you want to embed;
- Check both the Link to file and Display as icon checkboxes. Read the
latter part of this post if you want to know more about the function of these
two boxes;
- Click OK.

One last reminder if you did check the Link to File checkbox: once you have
linked to the destination file, do not move the file orelse Word will be
unable to locate the file. If you really have to move it, specify the new
location of the file by repeating these steps.

If you check Link to File, whenever the Word file you are working on is
opened, the content of the embedded file will be reloaded again and therefore
any changes made to the source of the embedded file will be reflected. If you
don't check it, the content of the file will be copied to the file you are
working on and changes to the source file will not be reflected.

If the Display as icon is checked, the content of the embedded file will be
represented by an icon and you can double

The effect you describe is achieved with Insert > Object. Use the Create
from File tab to choose the document to insert, and click Display as icon.
If you want the embedded document to update when the file changes, rather
than just embed a copy within this document, also click Link to file.

Depending on what you want to do, you might also want to look at Insert >
Hyperlink and (for Word documents) Insert > File.

Sorry, somehow the last sentence from the last post disappeared.

Anway, I was trying to say that if the Display as icon is checked, the
content of the embedded file will be represented by an icon and you can
double-click the icon to open the file. If you don't check it, the embedded
file will be represented using some text from the embedded file.
