How to eliminate ShopNav ie page

C

Craig

Whenever IE6 browser fails to find the target web page (e.g, myhome.com), it
opens up ShopNav page.

http://search2.shopnav.com/apps/epa/epa?cid=shnv9887&s=www.myhome.com

I have no idea how ShopNav crawled into my computer. Spy removal programs
could not find ShopNav. Somehow, it was a default setup in case IE fails
to find htm/html page.

The problem with ShopNav is that it disables Backbutton. I find it very
inconvenient. If ShopNav allows me to use Backbone, I do not mind it.
Could someone help me how to remove ShopNav?
Thanks.

Thanks Frank,

I visited the http://www.doxdesk.com/parasite/ShopNav.html site.
Next, open a DOS command prompt window (from Start->Programs->Accessories)
and enter the following commands, >for the IE variant:

I am not familiar with "DOS command". My question is about how to open DOS
command.
I am using WinXP Pro. Does DOS command mean clicking "Command.Prompt".?

Thank you.

Yes. That will open WinXP's DOS emulator.

Frank,

I need more help.
In the registry, there is no entry of "srng". I tried to look for it many
time in vain.
Under Program Files, there is no SRNG folder. I thought that it was a
hidden folder.
There is no hidden SRNG folder either.
What is your next recommendation?

Frank,

Again, I search all hidden folders in C-drive. No srng was found.
I am wondering whether geeks at ShopNav used an entirely different tactics
not to allow to be removed.
What do you think?

Note that AdAware and SpyBot S & D will each catch some things the other
won't. Also, each needs to be updated with the program's update function
before every use, even when just downloaded. There's also a lot more to do
than just those two programs. CWShredder is also available here:

may be found on this page:

If trying everything at that site does not fix the problem please post back
