But how i do that?

You mean upgrade to XP?

Simple...

Buy XP, re-format your drive...and install it.

It depends on how you installed Vista and what type of installation media
you used as well as the type of installation media you have for XP?

Give us some details.

I have a recently purchased Thinkpad Tablet with Vista. My business is not
prepared for Vista and will not be for some time. How do I downgrade to
Windows XP Tablet? I note that Vista Business qualifies for this downgrade,
but I do not understand the process.

The only thing Lenovo has offered is to ship the computer back for a new one
with XP, but I am 2 days beyond the 21 day limit for that.

Does the OEM license not qualify for the downgrade from Microsoft?

AFAIK OEM licenses do not have downgrade rights. Usually only VL (volume
licensed) licenses have downgrade rights.

You could speak to your business about getting them to purchase a license
under their VL scheme for your tablet if you need XP.

Hi,
Does the OEM license not qualify for the downgrade from Microsoft?

Some do, most don't. As Ken has stated, that right exists mainly for volume
license customers, not retail. With an OEM, the downgrade has to be handled
by the vendor, not Microsoft, which is why most do not do it at all.

Hi,

XP can't install to a Vista system partition. You need to use XP setup to
remove and rebuild it, then format and install cleanly. You cannot install
XP on top of Vista. Also, depending on your setup, you may need to install a
supporting driver for the disk controller (especially SATA drives and RAID
arrays).

I bought a Toshiba Satellite in February with Vista Home Basic pre-installed
and hate it. I read Toshiba's disclaimer which would downgrade other versions
of Vista, but not basic. What now??

Hi Kathy,

What now? That question was already answered. "The downgrade would have to
be supplied by the manufacturer of the tablet, as it is an OEM license. You
need to contact them."

You have to obtain a the downgrade from the manufacturer. If they don't
supply one for this system, then your options are limited. You can sell it
(or return it) and buy a different one. You can try a retail XP disk, but
with tablets and laptops they are frequently missing supporting drivers
*and* doing so will likely void any warranty you have.

I just finished downgrading an Hp Compaq Presario C500 (C502US) from
pre installed windows vista to windows XP.. if anyone else is looking
how to do it, heres how (as it took me some internet research):

1. Reboot your pc and hit F10 when it just starts to get into the BIOS
2. Get into "System Configuration" tab and change "Sata Native
Support" to [Disable].
3. Insert the windows XP installation disk and Exit setup saving the
changes.
4. Make the pc boot from windows XP disk and install it (formate the
partition when promped).
5. Once XP is installed go to www.intel.com and find the driver for
"Mobile intel 945GM Express Chipset Family" Graphic Driver (its
filename is win2k_xp1429), download and install.
6. open ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/
softpaq/
and look for SP34152A, download and install, this are
the Wireless drivers.
7. Keep browsing the ftp files and now look for the SP34510, download
and install.. this will install HP's wireless configuration manager.
8. Now find SP32395, download and install.. reboot your system. This
will install the Architecture necessary for audio and modem.
9. open ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/
softpaq/
again and browse for SP35270, download and install.
This is the audio driver.
10. finally look for SP35272, download and install. This is the modem
driver.

PS: I still have a 'SM Bus Controller' and an 'Unknown device' in the
Device Manager that i dont know how to set up correctly, any ideas
please post
