How to disable sound at startup

When I start my pc...win xp sp2 home edition... it make a very loud beep, can
that be turned off? It is not the sound of windows start that you can change
by going to Start/control panel/sounds. there is nothing selected for that
sound.

I think you want that "Beep". If its one beep, it's telling you everything
loaded and is okay.
