How to disable ping ?

I am using xp with sp2. There is option "allow echo" in a firewall, but it's
checked with a green mark, and I can't uncheck it. How to uncheck ?

The ICMP Echo Request is always enabled when
the File and Print sharing exception is enabled.

I dnn't know why they chose to do this,
there is no need for this as far as I can see.

Click the Exceptions Tab in the ICF properties and check to see if "File and
Printer Sharing" is checked. If it is, then you will not be able to disable
the "Allow incoming Echo Request" in the ICMP settings.
