I have some PC in our network having CD Writing capability running Windows
XP - anyway I can disable it?

Thanks.

Sandro

Start>Run GPEdit.msc. User configuration>Administrative templates>Windows
Components>Windows Explorer. Look for the entry that says Remove CD Burning
Features (only disables the built in burning feature).
Untested method:
Start>Run type services.msc. Disable IMAPI Cd Burning COM Service. I've
never tried it, but it should do it.

Thanks BarCom. It works

Shorter way: Start/run msconfig, disable (uncheck) the Imapi burning on the
services tab.

The problem with that is you end up with a modified boot every time. Go to
the source.

Has the same effect, and it's shorter. The modified boot screen will only
show the first time. But, either way will work, and everyone should do what
works for them.

Note that GPedit is only available in XP Pro. The other method
suggested in services.msc, (or from Control Panel - Admin Tools -
Services as the GUI way to get to it) is best for a total disablement.
Or in My Computer, r-click on the drive, Properties and uncheck 'Enable
Recording' on the Recording page
