It depends. But usually plugging the new card in is all that is required.

Your Motherboard BIOS is here you make the settings for any devices etc that are installed on the Motherboard itself.

You should find specific line entries on one of the BIOS 'pages' relating to the on-board video. It will need to be set to 'disable' and also you may need to make other changes to reflect the increased performance now available.
