Hello,

I would say you are being led in the wrong direction. I worked the XP
support lines for Microsoft for about two years after lauch and not once did
I tell anyone to do this. It would be best if you include more information
about your problem so we can advise you on the best method to fix your
problem. Keep in mind this is Microsoft support group, the BIOS is not a
Microsoft product. Support for your BIOS is best provided by either your
motherboard or computer manufacturer. All BIOS interfaces are different, so
nobody here can tell you the exact steps without knowing what kind of
motherboard you have. In any case I would say the problem is not what you
think it is. What is the error on the blue screen? Have you always had this
problem? When did the problem start? Have you made any changes to the
computer before the problem started? Is this XP installation a clean install
or an upgrade? Did this computer come with XP? What type of computer is it?
Once you provide more information, we can help you out.

Thanks and good luck!

It is a setting of the machine's BIOS setup, after hitting whatever
appropriate hot key to 'Enter Setup' at Power on (often DEL or maybe F2)

I am sceptic - but no harm in trying. Do not though confuse with
'Level 2' (or level 1) *processor* cache - turning those off slow the
machine quite horribly
