Hello:

when I was trying to make a network connection, I created by error a
"internet gateway" connection, but I can't delete it.
is it possible and how? (because I really don't want it).

thanks

The "Internet Gateway" in your "Network Connections" screen is just your
router. I don't use this feature, but you can monitor and configure your
router by use of this icon. If it bothers you, go into your router's
configuration utility and turn off "uPnP" capability in the router or
uninstall uPnP from Add/Remove Windows Components

If a Router supports uPNP ( Universal Plug & Play ) and the same named
service is running on your XP then the device will appear in the Network
map.

What do you see when you right click on the icon, and check the
"Properties"? I have four "Local Network" icons. I changed names, so they
are:

Lorri3
Chihiro
pmail on User's Media Center (Kozue)
KOZUE: TVersity Media Server

Chihiro's properties:

Chihiro
Manufacturer: D-Link Systems
Model Name: Xtreme N GIGABIT Router
Model Number: DIR-655
Description: Xtreme N GIGABIT Router
Device Address: http://192.168.102.1/

I am not certain, but I think it used to be called, "Internet Gateway".

The others are a networked printer, an application which streams media files
to a D-Link DS-510 Media Player, or DirecTV HR-21 satellite receiver, and a
folder on a mail server on the LAN.
