how to delete auto_close macro from word97

Somehow an Auto_Close macro was created today w/in my Word97, and it is tied
to the File/Open (keystroke combo of CTRL+O or from menu) function. How can
I delete it so that I don't inadvertently close out of Word everytime I
attempt to open an existing file? Note: When I go into Tools/Macros/Macros,
I am not given the option to Delete the Auto_Close macro, which is the only
means of deleting a macro that I am aware of. Thx...

Those symptoms point to a global template or add-in that's adding both the
macro and a redefined keystroke combination. See Section 4 of
http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/AppErrors/ProbsOpeningWord.htm for how to get rid
of it. (Notice that the superscript 2 on the word Startup is a hyperlink to
a footnote that describes how to locate the file.)
