How to deactivate beep

When working on unix systems with exceed-xstart-window all
beeps generated by unix (0x07) are sent to my PC - and I
hear them!
Under Winows NT I deactivated the beep and everything was
ok. How may I deactivate this beep under Windows 2000?

Why do you want to deactivate the beeps?

If nothing else works you can always rename beep.sys in
\winnt\system32\drivers. But this will disable all beeps from
the PC (not a good idea, as many systems use the system
speaker to warn of cpu overheating).
