how to create email group address in Active Directory

Guest

I am trying to setup a shared address book for our company.
The MS Outlook can retreive the email address from Active Directory (Win
Server 2000) thre LDAP services.
But I want to create a email group, for example <All Users> which include
all email addresses of my company.
Is it possible to setup a email group from Active Directory?
if you know how to solve my problem please email me ([email protected])

Best Regards,
Laiken

Hello Laiken,

You can create a Distribution list in active directory and add all user account
s to it.
In your OU rightclick, new, Group give it a name and select the checkmark
for distribution at the group type field. Press Next and you can choose your
email address thats all. Then add your user accounts to the group.

Best regards

The details myweb has provided will provide short term relief, but if your
company is like most there is plenty of churn. People get hired, they quit,
you add external users, etc... So unless you want to be constantly updating
this group, consider using a Query Based Distribution Group. This is
available in Exchange 2000 (SP3) and Exchange 2003 with it running in
Exchange native mode.

I don't know why, my active directory don't have Distribution List
i follow your steps to create a OU, and then create a group as distribution
type
There is not option for choose email addresses when creat the group
after i created the group, then i right click to open the properties
i can add the member to that group, but there is only single email address
for me to type in.

My Server is Windows server 2000 SP4 (Eng.)
do u need to install any components to enable email group list?

Hello Laiken,

Which Exchange version did you use? It is available in all Exchange versions.
Is your account member of the exchange administrators?
