How to copy from another program to Excel

Hi All,
Is there any way to copy a line of information, for instance from Cool
Edit (song title), using copy/paste and then paste that
into an Excel spreadsheet?
We tried using Copy but then Paste is greyed out in Excel.
Could someone show us how this can be done?

Katy and Pete,

Instead of just using Paste use Paste Special (Edit ->Paste Special ->
Values)

Thanks Jacob! we tried your suggestion but it too was greyed out. But it
made us look closer at what exactly what we were trying to copy.

In CoolEdit, we were trying to copy the whole music file (duh). By
highlighting the song, the text from the title then displayed in the File
name: window, displaying the 'text' version. By copy/pasting THAT, it then
worked. Thanks SO much for your reply.......
