How to control date formats in unbound field expressions?

If I type an expression in an unbound textbox such as ="The child's date of
birth is "&[Date of Birth] the date of birth always displays the short date
format. I need to be able to control the format so that it will display as
September 19, 2000 instead of 9/19/2000/
