How to control background color for comment boxes and tracked cha.

I would like to use a blue background for improved visualization of text in
MS Word 2003. However, in this mode, the comment boxes and tracked changes
boxes sometime picks background colors for those boxes that make text within
very unreadable. Furthermore this translates to the printing stage where
documents printed with this mode show these boxes with very dark backgrounds
and unreadable text.

Surely there's a workaround for this?

No, I don't believe there is. The blue background is very, very old and
something Microsoft added back in the early nineties to make it easier for Word
Perfect people to transition. I don't think it's ever been looked at when new
stuff has been added to Word.

You could change the Window and Text color in the Display properties for
Windows, though. (Personally, I like a light blue background rather than the
"hard" white.)
