The easy way to completely remove a printer driver is to
first install a dummy printer driver, make it the default
printer and restart. That will unload the old driver from
memory. You can then delete the old printer driver and it
will completely be removed.
Unfortunately, it's not what you do in Windows that makes
the difference, it's the order in which you do things that
matters.
