Yes Access has lots of metadata. Also, how much metadata in it depends on
your definition of metadata.
I guess you can export to other data formats (i.e. comma delimited, tab
delimited, etc)? You could export to Excel. This would strip Access'
metadata but then again as you have indicated in your post, Excel in turn
will put in its own metadata.

The only "cleaning" you can do is the compact/repair operation. That
removes deleted objects and release space back to the file system.
Even if you COULD remove metadata (and Access has tons) why would you WANT
to? It's all used to manage the objects you create and use for data entry,
retrieval, formatting, etc. Without the metadata, you don't have Access
objects anymore, just a lot of bits, like any file.

If you're referring to the personal and hidden metadata in MS Office 2003
applications, then yes, Access contains some of this metadata, too, but the
metadata cleanup tool doesn't work with Access. You'll have to remove the
information manually from "Summary" tab in the Database Properties window.
