I am using Windows Mail and I was just wondering if there is a way that I can
have Windows Mail automatically check for email messages and display a
notification message once it has detected and downloaded new email messages
without having to leave the program open all the time. Like is there an
option that I can check or a plug-in that I can download to my side bar or
something that allows Windows Mail to run in the background with out having
to have the main mail window open on my computer.
Thanks alot

No. You can minimize it to the taskbar but it has to be running to do
anything.

you don't need to have the window open for Windows Mail to run
in the background. Just minimise it to the task bar and it will continue
to check every NN minutes you have set it to do. When a new mail
is available you will get a notify 'boing' and you can then click the
taskbar
for Windows Mail to show the inbox screen again.

HTH.
