How To Change The Style of Windows

G

Guest

I just got a new computer and it's set on the Windows Classic Style. I want
to change it to the Windows XP style but it's not under the choices.
I have Windows XP Professional so I don't know what the problem is.
Can anyone out there help me?

Carlota,

To change, right click on any empty space on your taskbar and select
Properties. Click on Start Menu tab, and make sure that Start Menu is
selected instead of Classic Start Menu.

Hope this helps.

Open Registry Editor and navigate to:
[HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer]
In the right-pane, set NoSimpleStartMenu to 0 [dword:00000000]
Logoff and login again for the changes to take effect.

-or-
Using the Group Policy Editor - Windows XP Professional

Click Start, Run and type GPEDIT.MSC
Double-click User Configuration | Administrative Templates
Click Start menu and Taskbar
In the right-pane, double-click Force classic Start Menu and set it to Not
Configured

** BTW, it applies only for Taskbar and Start Menu.

If you're referring to the "Windows and buttons" dropdown in Appearance tab:
Start the Themes service. (Click Start, Run and type Services.msc.
Double-click Themes, set it to "Automatic" and start the service)

Right click on any empty space on your desktop, properties, themes, if
Widows Classic is showing expand the menu and select Windows XP
(Modified), Apply, OK, and this will change your desktop veiw.

If you are referring to the start menu, right click on a blank spot near
the start button, properties, start menu, you will have two choices
start menu and classic start menu, tick start menu, Apply, and OK.
