How to change the default place of second monitor (Extended Deskto

I'm using a laptop (Lenovo T60 XP Pro) with external monitor placed on its
left side.
I'm configuring my my windows XP to use the external monitor as a second
monitor with extended desktop. Although I can configure the place of the
second monitor to be on the left side, when I disconnect my laptop from the
port replicatior and connect it again, the external monitor goes back to the
right
side.

On the following article
http://www.microsoft.com/AtWork/stayconnected/multiplemonitors.mspx

It is said:

"By default, Windows places the second screen to the right of the first (or
primary) one. You can change the position of the monitors to reflect their
physical position."

Is it possible to change this default value to be the left side?

Ultramon is a great utility but I'm looking for a way to change the default
place
of the second monitor just by using XP pro.
I'm sure it should be somewere in the registry or so.

I have never heard of a way to do this using only windows without a third
party app, unless your display adaptor driver
provides this functionality...

some nvidia drivers have options that you can set with keystrokes.. but I
have not experimented that much with that

I susped that ati has similar driver keyboart shortcuts

I dont know if the following may help you with your problem but see these
programs too

Windows always defaults back to placing the unselected monitors in order
from left to right. There is no way that I know of to change this
behaviour.
