how to change number spaces between sentences automatically?

I routinely get text that has only 1 space between sentences. In editing
it, I wonder is there a way to automatically change it to 2 spaces without
having to manually do it between each sentence.

you can do this as follows

1) Select your text
2) Format
3) Paragraph
4) Line Spacing (drop downbox)
5) Double
6) click OK

this should work

First, let me say that I have no idea why you would want to do so. That
technique is a throwback to the manual typewriter's innability to
differentiate between wide & narrow characters and was adopted out of
necessity in an effort to avoid crowding. The proportional spacing of fonts
used on the PC today adjusts spacing according to typesetting standards,
thereby eliminating the need for such an innaccurate improvisation...
regardless of what some might say about Word's implementation of typography
:) It can also cause unwanted gapping between sentences as well as
formatting issues.

If you *must* do this for some reason there is no universal tool for the
purpose but there are at least two ideas I can offer:

1- In Tools>Options>Speling & Grammar you can set the Grammar setting to
look for 2 spaces between sentences. Each single space btw sentences will be
caught as a grammatical error & have to be manually changed when you check
Spelling & Grammar ('Change' button, but no 'Change All'), but at least it
helps automate the process, or

2- Use Find: [punctuation mark+press space] & Replace with: [same
punctuation mark+two spaces], or

3- someone may be along to offer a script of some sort - seems I've seen it
alluded to from time to time but have never had any reason to use it.
