How to change formatting characters

There used to be a way to easily find out how to change the formatting
characters, like a carriage return (a ^p) and so on. Not so any more. The
"new" Word 2003 help STINKS. I want to change the manual return (that is, the
down and left pointing arrow) but your "new and improved" help for Wrd 2003
doesn't seem to have a way to do it. Maybe someone knows how? I use the "Find
and Replace", but can no longer find the listing of character codes.

Have you tried clicking on More in the Replace dialog, and then clicking
Special? The code for a manual line break is ^l (that's a lowercase L). For
more, see “WD97: Control Codes to Use with Find and Replace (Edit Menu)†at
