How to change file-open dialog box?

Guest

I store many Excel documents on our department's shared drive at work, and
I'd like to list that drive & path in the left side of the "File-Open" dialog
box. This is the box that appears when you click file...open, and on the
left side of the box is a column that lists a few places:

My Recent Documents
Desktop
My Documents
My Computer
My Network Places

I'd like to add one labeled "S drive - Institutional Effectiveness" (no
quotes) under My Network Places. How do I do this?

Thanks,
Larry

What version of excel are you using?

In xl2002 and xl2003, you can do file|open and then go to the parent folder of
the folder you want. Then click on the Tools button (top right corner) and
click "Add to Places".

If you're using xl2k, MS has a COM addin that's called Places.exe
that allows you to update the places list.

I don't use xl2007 enough to know for sure, but it might be similar to
xl2002/xl2003.

Thanks Dave. I have Excel 2007 and unfortunately it's different - the
"Tools" button is in the lower left of the box and offers only Delete,
Rename, Print, Map Network Drive, Properties, and Recover Previous Version.
There's no "add to places" option - maybe it's somewhere else?

I appreciate the input.

Select your folder and then right click in the left panel itself, picking
'Add ...'
