How to change file names?

J

John Smith

That is, how to change, using Windows XP or Another prog, a number of file
names in one go as apposed to one at a time?

I have 300 files named P1001.jpg - P1300.jpg

How to change to P1001A.jpg - P1300A.jpg

or, better still....

to T1.jpg - T300.jpg

Thanks,
John

If the preceding does what you intend, remove the word 'echo' to
actually do the renaming.

hi john
i think that if you open up the folder where the pics are, then goto
edit - select all - and then rename the first picture something like pic1,
hit enter and windows will rename all the other ones for you, like pic2, pic3
etc..

hope this helps pete ;-)

The free Irfanview can do this, and has loads of other features.

For photos, I use ACDSee.

But you may also use this handy (and free) utility:

http://www.alltheshareware.com/Rnameit-Software-66629.html

RNameit is the most flexible and user friendly of the batch file renamers I
have used.

Irafanview has a batch rename facility.
