When I drag a URL from Internet Explorer to my Desktop, I would like for the
Icon to be that of the site from which it came. For instance if I drag the
URL for www.bankofamerica.com to my desktop, I would like for the Bank of
America logo to appear as the icon. How can I accomplish that?

I think the logo is set by the website itself and is down to them to
implement in their webcode. There might be a way of getting the logo from
the site, shrinking it and applying it to your favourites although I am
unsure whether this is possible.

Ignore my last message, its late and I totally misread it - ignoring the
desktop bit and thinking you meant links in your browser.

Those specialized website icons are called "favicons". Here is
information about saving them for your own use:

favourite icons (line 108, right column)
